Anteater skin or Anteater hide?

Anteater, Snake, Shark, Eel, Lizard, and Ostrich are typically referred to as skin whereas leathers from animals such as Elephant, Alligator, Crocodile, and Bovines are typically classified as hides.

The difference in terminology is mainly due the thickness of the leather produced.
